Finally - The Monkey!

To contact us Click HERE
You guys have been ever-so-patient with me and for that, I am eternally grateful. So, I won't delay you any longer... it's the pattern you've been asking for since Christmas -- my little monkey!

I've got to be frank with you -- right now I am in LOVE with Knit Picks' Dishie yarn for making up amigurumi dolls like my little monkey. The stuff is sturdy and soft and shows all the time and effort I put into making my stitches neat and tight. Plus, over time, it becomes buttery soft. Remember that puppy I made a while back (that my daughter made off with?) You can NOT put that little bugger down once you pick it up!

Ok... sales plug for Knit Picks aside, I'll give you what you've really been waiting for... the pattern download links. My little monkey pattern is available as a Ravelry pattern download for just $3.00 -- or you can have the pattern hand-packed and emailed to you from my Etsy shop for only $5.00. And, if you prefer to do your shopping without setting up an account for either Etsy or Ravelry, here's that Buy Now button!

I couldn't be more delighted with how this pattern came out and I hope you enjoy it too. As always, I love seeing your finished projects -- so shoot me an email or message me on Ravelry/Etsy!

Reading Scales
You can illustrate a variety of measuring devices, such as scales, measuring cup, thermometer, and speedometer, and how to read them. Generate examples using different scales on different devices at the press of a button.

Measures
An online activity about metric measuring units and how to read scales, measuring cup, and a ruler. Uses British spelling.

I have a longer list here: Measuring - list of online games and tutorials.

Of course, with measuring, life and experience is the best teacher, not computer games. So encourage your child/students to play with measuring cups, scales, and rulers so they will learn to use them.

MINT TOPS

To contact us Click HERE
Those who read my post about Friday date night saw these cookies. Now it is time to post the recipe. These are delicious, melt in your mouth kind of cookies. The recipe is really simple and I love the dough because it resembles play dough. If you wanna have some fun with kids in the kitchen the possibilities with this dough are endless: color it as you like, let your kids set their imagination free, and bake the sweet creations to show off and indulge!

MINT TOPS (from "Sju Sorters Kakor" Swedish Cookbook)(40 cookies)(for printable recipe click here)
Ingredients:
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
200 g butter, soft
1 cup starch
4 cups flour

Garnish:100 g semisweet chocolate
3-4 drops peppermint oil
1 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, optional1 oz. white chocolate, optional

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325*F.Mix sugar, butter, all-purpose flour, and starch to obtain smooth dough. First, when you start working the dough together, it will seem that it is too dry, but don't add anythnig, it will come together to a perfect working consistency. The dough will resemble play dough.
Roll dough into small balls and place them on a greased baking sheet or baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Make a small indentation in the middle of the cookie.Bake on the middle rack of the oven for about 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool down a bit.
In the meantime, melt 100 g of semi-sweet chocolate over a water bath, drop in peppermint oil, and stir to combine. Fill the small indentations in the cookie with mint chocolate. Melt the rest of the semi-sweet chocolate and white chocolate and drizzle all over the cookies. Allow the chocolate to harden before indulging. I made some small s-shaped ones too!

NEW LOOK AND A LITTLE OF EVERYTHING WITH YEAST DOUGH

Since I made some radical changes in my life, I decided to change the look of my blog too. Change is good and so is life :-D

I love to work with yeast dough. It is amazing watching it huff and puff and then you can create the most wonderful things, sweet or savory, creativity is the clue! Every one has probably their own favorite recipe for yeast dough that came from granny or aunt or mother or sister (those recipes are the most valuable to me), so I won't share the recipe, I would just like to share some photos of my latest yest adventures.
Just one more thing: I always wondered why the pizza dough in the restaurants is so elastic and stretchable and I was truly shocked when I discovered that the big secret is a tiny addition of white vinegar to the dough!
